Number of years in business?

What’s your favourite season/decade/era for stationery design inspiration?

I LOVE letterpress printing. It’s so beautiful, timeless, and romantic.

What are your top three predicted wedding trends for 2022? 2023?

Minimalism, navy blue and larger wedding celebrations!

What’s the stationery artist advantage vs an online printer like Canva or Zazzel?

When working with a stationer you and your fiancé get to pick style, font, colour, envelope colour, paper weight, paper texture, envelope liner, wax seals. Additionally I have done so much trial and error with different printing companies that I now feel confident couples will love the final outcome of their invitation. They’re going to feel proud of what they’re giving to guests as the first impression of their wedding. I also recommend to couples to always always ALWAYS get a sample before ordering all of their invitations. Make sure you’re happy with the final outcome. I do offer printing services for couples who would like a more DIY approach.

What are your favourite resources when starting the planning process for your designs?

I’m a Pinterest junkie! I research and explore Pinterest all the time! I also love a good old fashioned magazine — nothing like flipping through a magazine and sipping a coffee gaining inspiration and ideas!

What are your favourite stationery materials to work with? Why?

I love the bamboo paper I’ve discovered with my local printer. It’s a nice woven texture and a bit more of a sustainable option. It’s pretty, unique, and elevates the invitation style. I also love embellishing invitations with vellum and keyholes with a watercolour floral background.

What would your dream wedding stationery suite look like?

I love blue. I think currently I would love to create a minimalist blue/romantic suite to send off for letterpress printing on my handmade paper with torn edges and include some dreamy envelope liners and hand dyed ribbon. Hello beautiful!

What should every couple include in their wedding stationery suite?

Be direct! Your invitation is your time to express your expectations for your wedding. Be clear and concise on plus ones, if children are invitation, gift registry vs cash vs wishing well, open bar/toonie bar/cash bar. If you don’t know how to word this, ask your stationer- that’s what we’re here for! We have done SO many different suites, we probably have some helpful suggestions! In terms of embellishments, I love a good wax seal. They’re beautiful and set the tone elevating the invitation from the moment they’re received in the mail.

What is one thing you want every couple to know about choosing a stationery designer for their wedding day?

Take a look at their website and social media and see if their style matches yours. Also be aware of your budget and timeline. There can be a lot of back and forth to make your invitations perfect for you and we want to ensure you don’t feel rushed or pressured into something you’re not completely happy with. Also know that I love being part of someone’s wedding day and I am here to support YOU. There can be a lot more that goes into wedding stationery than a couple may think but I’m here with years of experience to help you find what works best for you!

Invitations are the one item that are on your guest’s fridge for months leading up to your wedding! Take the time to send something out that you absolutely love!

What inspires you everyday?

My goal is to support others through my business. My mom taught me to be intentional in everything you do and to recognize the impact you have on others. I do everything in my power to support local through my outsourcing. My print house is located right here in Edmonton. My coloured envelopes are created by a business in BC. The envelope liners are printed in Fort Saskatchewan, and everything is assembled and completed by me or my mom who occasionally helps me out. I also donate 10% of all my proceeds to miscarriage awareness. This is a cause very near and dear to my heart. I think it is important to recognize the footprint of your business and ensure the impact you’re making in your community is a great one! My family also inspires me. It’s a cheesy answer but I have to give a shoutout to my supportive, positive, and heart of gold family! They’re all so unique and when my four year old tells me “mommy, that’s so beautiful”, I feel my heart explode with pride a little bit showing him that he too can create beautiful and great things one day!

Hi, my name is Janelle, I’m a photographer from Edmonton Alberta. I’m all about three things: celebration, connection and client education. My style is relaxed and romantic. I love intimate weddings, the kind where I get to know your family and friends. I thrive when meeting new people. My favourite moment of every wedding is right after the ceremony. This is when your friends and family smother or possibly crush you with either love or cheerful embrace. Bring on the epic dance parties.

I value connection and celebration of moments over a big production.
