Mallory & Caleb, July 2019 Wedding

We have known each other for more than 20 years thanks to them both attending the same school from K-12 but it was not until many years after they had graduated that we started dating. We have been friends for many years and found comfort with one another but never had any romantic feelings until Mallory was in university and realized her good looking -married- professor looked a lot like Caleb, so she started to reach out to Caleb and eventually asked him out on a date.

We were in the Okanagan visiting my family and on the last day of our trip, just the two of us went touring around to some wineries. On our last stop at See Ya Later Ranch (our favorite spot), we walked down to the viewpoint and Caleb popped the question.

1) First Look – I thought I would need a first look to prevent crying too much at the ceremony and Caleb ended up really appreciating the first look as it helped settle his nerves a bit leading up to the ceremony. It was also so nice to just have a moment to ourselves (and photographer) as there is not many opportunities in the day to spend 1-1 time with your partner.
2) Speeches – The best part of any wedding is everyone sharing their stories and love for each other. It is an opportunity to let everyone know, wedding party and wedding guests, how much you appreciate them all- not only being there today but everyday. Plus the best part of every wedding is shedding a few tears, or a lot of tears in our case when it came to the Parents of the Bride speech as my Dad was a mess as he tried to get through his speech-causing everyone else to tear up themselves.
3) Looking out at the ceremony to see how many people are there to support us – We can recall feeling so overwhelmed when we entered our church for the ceremony. It was just so nice to see so many familiar faces and so humbled to know that everyone came out to show their love and support for us. It is hard during the ceremony to focus on the ceremony when the both of us just wanted to spend time saying hello to everyone.

Hi, my name is Janelle, I’m a photographer from Edmonton Alberta. I’m all about three things: celebration, connection and client education. My style is relaxed and romantic. I love intimate weddings, the kind where I get to know your family and friends. I thrive when meeting new people. My favourite moment of every wedding is right after the ceremony. This is when your friends and family smother or possibly crush you with either love or cheerful embrace. Bring on all the candid moments.

I value connection and celebration of moments over a big production
