Question: Your wedding collections don’t include engagement sessions. Why?

Answer: Not everyone wants engagement photos.

And this is 100% okay! Not everyone would like to take engagement photos. As a photographer, recognizing client needs/interests is vital for my business. I need to strike the best balance in my service. This means separating my engagement sessions from my wedding collections.

Is this strategic? Absolutely! Let’s imagine we’re talking about a chicken aioli sandwich with avocado. Instead of asking to remove the avocado, the avocado is already removed. BUT you can add the avocado to your sandwich if you want. Essentially I’m taking a round about way of describing what you most likely already know as the “à la carte” method.

Question: But don’t we need an engagement session to practice for our wedding day?

Answer: You sure as heck don’t need to practice anything!

Engagement sessions are so much fun. I LOVE being a third wheel on a date. The pressure of a wedding day hasn’t hit yet and we can really play with time. It’s also one of my favourite ways to get to know you as a couple. That being said, as much fun as engagement sessions are, you really don’t need one in order to practice for your wedding photos.

Your wedding photographer will guide you through the process on your wedding day. They’ll coach you and shower you both with an overwhelming amount of encouragement. Your wedding portraits are meant to capture the first day of your marriage, which is something you don’t need to practice for. Trust in us, WE will take care of you 🙂

Lakeside engagement session

Hi, my name is Janelle, I’m an photographer hailing from Edmonton Alberta.I’m all about connection and celebration. Seriously, it’s my focus from our first client meeting till the chicken dance starts. I make an effort to get to know your closest friends and family on your wedding day. Why? First, they’re probably cool people, and second, when they know me as “Janelle” the gal who plays Dungeons and Dragons and has a pet Duck, they’re going to let me into their world. My favourite moment of every wedding is right after the ceremony. This is when your friends and family smother or possibly crush you with either love or cheerful embrace. Bring on all the candid moments.

I value connection and celebration of moments over a big production.
