Oh hey there, today I’m sharing my three engagement photo myths. Why? Because knowledge is power, and I want you to feel powerful as all heck. Keep reading, cause it’s a count down to number one.
Myth Number Three: It’s All About One Person
I can’t count the number of times a significant other has said to me “I’m just here as a prop.” NO. No.You. Are. Not. Seriously you’re not, and I will never treat you as one. I don’t care who proposed to you (actually I do care cause it’s probably an awesome story so please still tell me!) or who is wearing an engagement ring, this is about capturing two people in their current stage of life who are as the Friend Owl from Bambi would say “twitterpated” with one another.
Myth Number Two: That It’s All About Location
People and moments over location. Every. Single. Time. Stunning locations are great, but they’re even better when those locations have meaning for you and your partner. If curled up at home is totally you, opt for that instead of waiting for fall and looking for some trees out in the woods. If the two of you live part time at the lake with your pup, then the lake with your pup makes for the perfect spot. The real deal here is making sure you feel comfortable.
The Number One Myth About Engagement Photos:
The number one myth about engagement photos is that you need to wait until you’re engaged to take photos with your significant other!!! Heck no! You can schedule a photo session whenever you dang want. You don’t need a traditional reason to do so. Did the two of you fall in love with a new hobby? Get that photographed! Is one of you going away to school in a far off and distant romantic land? Take cute couple photos to gush over while you’re away from one another. Feel sexy and just want to capture that? Go for it. What’s that saying wise people have? “There’s no time like the present.”

Hi, my name is Janelle, I’m an photographer hailing from Edmonton Alberta.I’m all about connection and celebration. Seriously, it’s my focus from our first client meeting till the chicken dance starts. I make an effort to get to know your closest friends and family on your wedding day. Why? First, they’re probably cool people, and second, when they know me as “Janelle” the gal who plays Dungeons and Dragons and has a pet Duck, they’re going to let me into their world. My favourite moment of every wedding is right after the ceremony. This is when your friends and family smother or possibly crush you with either love or cheerful embrace. Bring on all the candid moments.
I value connection and celebration of moments over a big production.
